The show’s synopsis: Time is spring of 1953. Mr. Banks learns that one of the young men he has seen occasionally about the house is about to become his son-in-law. Daughter Kay announces the engagement out of nowhere and the little girl in pigtails is still how George Banks thinks of her. Mrs. Banks and her sons are happy, but George is in a dither. Kay and the groom-to-be, Buckley, insist they don't want a big wedding. What starts out as a simple affair with a few friends soon grows with a larger guest list each day and that is when the real trouble arises. Before long the Banks home is taken over by wedding planners, florists, and caterers. With every additional dollar spent by George Banks to give his daughter the perfect wedding day, frustrations, tempers, and aggravations rise until turmoil and crisis boil over and threaten to ruin the wedding. It is up to the Father of the Bride to save the day and remind his daughter (and himself) that all of it is worth it to start off on the road to a happy, married life.
